THANK CHRIST. The cancer of the Chicago Bulls is officially gone. I don’t care who we got in return(Robin Lopez, Jose Calderon, and Jerian Grant), the fact the Bulls front office has moved on from the Derrick Rose project is a great sign for the Bulls future. If we can start fresh and build a squad around Jimmy Butler, we may just be an NBA Championship contender in the next few years.
Now with some cap space, here’s an idea…
It may be a bold move… But the appeal is there. Michael Jordan’s city, Jimmy Butler, and maybe figure something out with Robin Lopez down low, or re-sign Pau. We could be good enough to make it to the playoffs and NOT lose to LeBron next year.
I’m not a Derrick Rose hater by any stretch of the imagination. We all knew his time in Chicago was done after his annual knee injuries…
We weren’t going to win a title with him after that, so it only made sense to let him go. If he had an injury-free career up to this point the Bulls might be the best god damn team in the league right now, but here we are, coming off a 42-40 season.
Just think about what could’ve been, MVP-caliber Rose, Jimmy Butler, Taj Gibson, Pau Gasol, and Coach Thibs keeping our defense as strong as ever… Ugh I need to go change my shorts.
